Academics

Colonial Inauguration kicks off the academic journey at GW and begins your learning experience. During CI you will have an opportunity to meet with advisors and faculty and learn first-hand about the academic experience and expectations here. In addition, you will have a chance to meet with a number of people who are here to help you make deep and lasting connections with the GW academic community as you begin to chart your course as a Colonial.

First among that group are our academic deans who set the vision for each school and college. They also bring a great deal of their own academic expertise to the school they lead, making GW a special place of inquiry and learning.  Our deans will welcome you to GW and help you begin the academic engagement we cultivate at GW.

Various associate deans and advising staff from each school will work closely with you to advise you through your academic journey. These choices begin with GW First Class, our online advising tutorial, and continue throughout your undergraduate experience. At CI, you will begin to form the connections with academic administrators you need to start on your path to academic success.

During your time at CI, you will also experience the vast array of academic resources GW has to offer, including:

You also will have the opportunity to visit the Mount Vernon Campus, which is home to the Elizabeth J. Somers Women’s Leadership Program

CI is your first opportunity to experience GW as a student, so be sure to take advantage of all the university has to offer to help you become a successful Colonial.
